Each preliminary round will feature 4 semi-finalists playing live for the final 2 spots while opening for a surprise headliner in each city.
Surprise Headliner will be announced shortly!

The final round will feature the Calgary winner vs the Edmonton winner playing live on the MAIN STAGE @ BOONSTOCK!

This contest is open to any DJ/Producer 18 years of age or older. Many DJ’s and producers will enter the contest but only 4 from each city will be chosen as contestant semi-finalists, and out of the 8 semi-finalists, only 2 will be chosen to move on to the final round LIVE at Boonstock bringing the Battle of Alberta to a whole new level.

What Kind of Event is this?

This is an 18+ DJ Competition to find one of Canada’s next top DJ or Producer!
Who can enter this contest?

Any DJ or Producer over the age of 18.
Can a DJ or Producer consist of more than one person?

Yes, you can have groups of one or three maximum.
Is there a fee to enter the contest?

How does the competition work?
************************
This contest is open to any DJ/Producer 18 years of age or older. Many DJ’s and producers will enter the contest but only four (4) from each city will be chosen as contestant semi-finalists, and out of the eight (8) semi-finalists, only two (2) will be chosen to move on to the final round LIVE at Boonstock bringing the Battle of Alberta to a whole new level.
At the preliminary events in each city, each DJ/Producer will be given a 45 minute set where their one and only job is to WOW the crowd with their mixing, producing, scratching, song selection, and visual display. We should also mention that the semi-finalists will be competing live as they open for a surprise international headliner in each city.
How is the WINNER picked?

Our panel of well-respected local DJ’s & talent will rate each finalist live at each preliminary event, judging each contestant on their song selection, mixing, production, scratching, visual displays, and crowd interaction. The finalist with the highest score at the end of each cities competition will move onto the finals, playing LIVE; at Boonstock for the number one spot of Boonstock’s Next Top DJ!

Can we use a computer interface?

Yes you can! You can use any computer interface you would like. But please note, we will only be providing Scratch Live hardware at the event. For any other interface you will be required to bring your interface hardware.
Do we have to use a computer interface?
************************
No you do not! You are free to play using actual Music CD’s or Music Vinyl!
Do I need my own equipment for this event? If so, what?
************************
The Following Equipment will already be available for the event:
– 2 MK5 Vinyl Turntables
– 2 CDJ 2000’s
– 1 SL1 Interface
– 1 SL3 Interface
– 1 DJM 800 4 channel DJ Mixer
– 1 Wireless Microphone
– Laptop Stand
Equipment each DJ/Producer will need to bring of their own:

– Personal Headphones
– Needles (only needed if using vinyl turntables)
– Slip Matts (only needed if using vinyl turntables)
– Music Vinyl or CD’s
If using an interface, you will need to bring:

– Control Records or CD’s
– Personal Laptop and/or Hard Drive
– Interface Hardware & accessories
If you require any extra equipment that is not listed above, you will be required to bring it on your own.
Publishing

By entering this contest you are agreeing to provide Play Canada, MadHouse & Boonstock with exclusive publishing rights for all material used or created by this event; for this event. This includes, but not limited to; the use of DJ/Producer names, logos, biographies, pictures, songs, videos, etc… This also includes the use of event pictures, recordings, videos, etc…
Material may be posted on the radio, TV, websites, social media websites, etc…
This policy will also work in conjunction with the artists to allow them the use of event material to self-promote themselves and add to portfolio for future reference.

HOW DO I ENTER?

Alright, so you still think you have what it takes to be Boonstock’s Next Top DJ? Well here’s how you enter:
Step 1: SHOW YOUR SUPPORT! Click Attending, share this event, and invite all your friends!
Step 2: Fully read, understand, and accept the listed terms and conditions for the “Next Top DJ” contest.
Step 3: Enter the competition by visiting https://apps.facebook.com/contestshq/contests/322130 and clicking “enter contest” & filling out the required forms.
(The above link cannot be accessed via the Facebook mobile app or mobile page. For best results be sure to view it using a computer browser.)
In the form you will be asked to provide links to either:
A) An Audio Recording of a Mix you have Made/Produced.
OR
B) An Video recording of you mixing or Producing Live!
You can provide up to 3 different links/mixes/videos in total! The more you provide the more chances you have of winning! Remember, the more creative the entry, the more people will vote for it. So in other words, we encourage you to provide links to videos!
Each and every entry that we receive (that is eligible to be in the contest in accordance to all our guidelines), along with an Album Cover of the DJ/Producer, will be posted in the “Contests” section of the Boonstock Facebook Fanpage (www.facebook.com/boonstock)
Step 4: Get everyone you know to vote on your entry in the “Contests” section of the Boonstock Fan Page on facebook (www.facebook.com/boonstock).
The top four (4) entries per city with the most “votes” by 8pm on Sunday May 26th, will be the four (4) semi-finalists per city and will then move on to be listed as the contestant for the events per city along with their given set times.
