This contest was open to any DJ/Producer 18 years of age or older. Many DJ’s and producers will enter the contest but only four (4) from each city will be chosen as contestant semi-finalists, and out of the eight (8) semi-finalists, only two (2) will be chosen to move on to the final round LIVE at Boonstock bringing the Battle of Alberta to a whole new level.
At the preliminary events in each city, each DJ/Producer will be given a 45 minute set where their one and only job is to WOW the crowd with their mixing, producing, scratching, song selection, and visual display all while opening for DJ SHOGUN in Calgary and DJ’s WRIGHT & WONG in Edmonton!!!

How is the WINNER picked?

Our panel of well-respected local DJ’s & talent will rate each finalist live at each preliminary event, judging each contestant on their song selection, mixing, production, scratching, visual displays, and crowd interaction. The finalist with the highest score at the end of each cities competition will move onto the finals, playing LIVE; at Boonstock for the number one spot of Boonstock’s Next Top DJ!

With over 20 Years of dj experience between the two, Dusty Wright (aka. Dusty Grooves) & Mikey Wong are no stangers to Western Canada Party Scene. After combining the two into Wright & Wong in early 2011 they have already had the honours to warm up parties for the likes of Chuckie, A-Trak, Porter Robinson, Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77, Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, Gabrial & Dresden, Team Canada, and Shout Out Out Out to name a few.
Both have held majorly successful residencies at various venues in the city of Edmonon and also have held down radio shows on mainstream stations such as 91.7 The Bounce and Hot 107. Mikey is still currently on the #1 hit music station Hot 107 doing his pick of the week, prime time every Friday night which has received a strong following within the music community in Edmonton. Both Wright & Wong are currently working together in the studio coming up with a unique sound that they can call their own. They are also key members of one of the biggest promotion companies in North America, Connected Entertainment.
These role models have helped pave the way for electronic music in Edmonton and are the driving force which provides the city with the most cutting edge sounds availible in the world today. Wright & Wong bring major energy to a room with their music styles ranging from house to indie electro with spinkles of dubstep & moombahton. There’s never a dull moment when these two start jacking a dance floor into a sweaty messy pulp, which is why they live by the terms: Hard As F*ck! Lock Up Your Daughters!!
